A little movie review of mine, mostly because I can't sleep >.>

I went with my husband and his best friend to see this after a quick, hey i'm bored let's see what's playing decision. Growing up I was read this story, sure, I never really liked it though. I mean, the part about going inside your own imagination and dealing with whatever might be going on in your life creatively, sure, that part was cool. But I always thought the boy was a little snot.

The movie... To be honest, I was bored. So very very bored. I didn't like it, and after reading some reviews online, I see that others agree with me but... but they are told, frequently, "Oh, you just had to look really deep in the movie to get what was going on..."

I did. I tried to look for redeeming factors but... I got this much out of it: the wild things are obviously all parts of Max- his anger, his insecurities. I assumed the girl one, KW?, was his sister. She was shown leaving with her other friends in the beginning- and KW has other friends (the owls). All during his adventure, I was assuming he was taking the place of his father's interactions with himself. When he tells them they can do anything they want- that seems like something fathers tell their children, right? And then when he leaves- he seems to be echoing the words that have haunted him. Or, that's what I got out of it... I tried to look for more, but all in all, I see this as a movie where the director was trying hard to show something, where the actual 'something' was missing.
